FreiDok plus is a "Forschungsinformatonssystem" (Current Research Information System, CRIS). In a current research information system metadata and information about all fields of research at a university can be linked: Publications Research data Persons (=researchers) Institutions (=research institutions) Projects Awards Patents FreiDok plus went online in mid-2015 replacing FreiDok, the University of Freiburg's former text and document repository. The first version of FreiDok plus is already able to process information and metadata of publications, research data, persons and institutions. FreiDok now stands for "Freiburg's Documentation of Research". The major objective of FreiDok plus is to increase the visibility of the University's research output. This is realised by several technical strategies such as the exchange of metadata with other institutions, the usage of standard data as well as the provision of standardised interfaces. Via these interfaces metadata are automatically distributed to relevant institutions (e.g. DNB, SWB, other universities, centres of excellence,...). This considerably increases the visibility of the metadata and thus makes Freiburg's research more accessible on both a local and a global scale. As a side effect, web portals for researchers and institutions, which can be configured and customised, are generated to document the research activities and results of the University of Freiburg.
